And slowly Iā€™m learning to make myself feel like home

I love stories, always have. Ever since I was a child I've been reading, writing and drawing stories. As a kid it came easy, I didn't care what other kids thought. As a teenager it became more difficult. The creativity was still there, but a self-consciousness crept in that hung like a dark cloud over everything I did. I wasn't like other teens. Nobody seemed to like the things I did, and I didn't like the things they did. So instead I spent a lot of time in my room with my stories, keeping them to myself. Then I discovered the wonderful creative community on the internet. I started posting some of my art and later fanfiction online and with small steps I discovered I wasn't the only one with a head full of stories and a continuous urge to create. Slowly but surely I learned to open myself up, not just online but also towards the people around me. Since I did, the joy I take in telling stories has only grown. "Slowly I'm learning to make myself feel like home" as my friend Debbie has so beautifully written.
